First official nightly release
This is the first public nightly build of MachineFabric for macOS. MachineFabric is a desktop app for transforming files through composable processing flows: you pick a source file, choose the result you want, and the app discovers the available path to get there.
The first release establishes the core experience:
- transform files directly from macOS through the app and Finder
- discover available conversions based on the file you start with
- choose between multiple target formats and processing paths when more than one route is available
- run multi-step transformations as a single flow instead of handling each format change manually
What you can do
MachineFabric can process a broad mix of document and media formats. This first release focuses on practical conversion and extraction workflows across:
- text and structured data
- PDFs and page-based documents
- images
- audio
- video
Depending on the source material, that can include workflows such as extracting information from documents, converting between common media formats, pulling audio out of video, and preparing files for downstream analysis or summarization.
How the product works
MachineFabric treats each transformation as part of a larger graph of possible operations. In practice, that means the app can guide you from the file you have to the output you want, even when the result requires more than one step behind the scenes.
When a file could reasonably be interpreted in more than one way, the app can ask you to choose the most accurate source type before continuing. This keeps the workflow explicit and gives you control over how the file is processed.
First-release scope
This nightly introduces the foundation of the MachineFabric product:
- the native macOS app
- Finder integration for starting transformations from your files
- a growing library of built-in processing capabilities
- support for composed, multi-step file workflows rather than isolated one-off conversions
Beta notes
- This is a nightly build intended for early testing and feedback.
- Coverage varies by format and workflow; some paths are broader and more mature than others in this first release.
- You may encounter cases where the app asks for clarification before processing a file, especially with ambiguous formats.
