capdag resolves caps against fabric manifest 11, which publishes dims: the axes definitions are
built along, such as a language, a file type or a quantisation. Each dim is its own registry
object with its documentation and each value’s, listed in the manifest’s dims map, and every
library reads it by name (get_dim). A cap or media definition names the dims it was built from
in its new dims field, and its documentation now says only what is specific to it; what a dim
and a value mean is read from the dim. A definition is cached only once every dim it names is
held, and a reference to a dim or value the snapshot lacks is refused. Every cap and media
definition has a new version in manifest 11. A cartridge or host built for manifest 10 is listed
as incompatible until it is rebuilt for 11.
The cartridge registry is at version 3, schema revision 7.0: a cartridge’s cap definitions carry
the dims each was built from. A host reads only the registry at its own version, so cartridges
are republished there.
A cartridge scaffolded with capdag new is built against this release’s fabric manifest.
